Before dog sports came into my life I taught elementary school.

This was great as the schooling, seminars and children prepared me for dog sports. Don’t get me wrong, I truly enjoyed my work, and especially the children. But the discipline, patience, and preparedness that helped me in teaching, also helped me become the handler I have become.

Since 2006 I’ve been involved with performance dogs. My first agility dog was a black lab/hound mix named Cinder. Together we fell in in love with the wonderful world of dog sports. We earned numerous Rally and Agility titles, including my first MACH. Cinder is now retired and I currently compete with my border collie Cupid. She is my second agility dog and we have earned numerous Rally, Obedience and trick titles.  We are now working on our RAE title Obedience.  We have 2 C-ATCH’s in CPE and are well on our way to #3. We are also working on our MACH in AKC.   But more than any titles, the best thing this sport has given me is the bond I have with each of my dogs. That is worth every lesson, every practice, every trial I’ve done.
